- Let’s see. As an example, lets say $2000 a month Social Security, $24,000 annually. Standard deduction is $14,600 plus extra $1,950 for 65+ single senior. Now taxable is $7540. Subtract $4,000 credit, making taxable $3540. And if SS is the only income, you don’t have to file at all. Qwitcher bitchin’.
