• Jokes aside, this is serious. If a physician cannot clearly answer a basic biological question about sex, we have a problem. Medicine depends on precision and clarity. Avoidance isn’t compassion.. it’s a failure of professional responsibility. – TommyT
• Next time, if you have the opportunity to ask the same type of questions of that doctor or another doctor in a similar situation, please ask this: “If I (meaning you, Senator Josh Hawley) came to you at your office as a patient, and I stated that I would do anything or pay anything to be able to become pregnant, how would you advise me. Would you give me hope that it is possible? What would your advice be and your direct answer to me? If you were being totally/brutally honest- to me as YOUR patient.” She would have to answer you as a treating physician. If she were not honest, or misled you in any way, she could face a malpractice type situation and/or at least lose significant credibility (if she hasn’t already), were you to pursue it. As your physician in a clinical situation, there is a standard of care that she needs to follow. I’m curious how she would answer in that situation, or would she still try to once again dance around it? – Dr N
