Failed Florida Swamp Escape Leads to Inmate’s Capture

A Florida inmate who escaped from the Sumter County Detention Center was captured by deputies after attempting to hide in swampy water. According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old Joseph Brown fled the facility during a kitchen work detail. Deputies later located him near County Road 675, where he tried to conceal himself in a pond. Bodycam footage released by the SCSO shows officers pursuing Brown and pulling him from the water.
