Trump’s main pitch is “make money, not war!” Trump’s trip is historic for many reasons – he’s lifting sanctions on Syria, giving them a fresh start and a “chance at greatness.” Why? Trump wants to peel them away from Russia and Iran and play nice with Israel. The fewer friends Iran has, the more likely they’ll sign a nuke deal – and if a nuke deal is signed, a chain reaction will be felt around the world. Everyone will be doing business together – Jews, Muslims and the United States. Russia and China will be edged out, and the Middle East will have a nice American security blanket. It’s a Hail Mary, and it might work.
