- Been saying it again and again. In 2004 the US military began lowering its testing and recruitment standards SEVERAL times. The US was getting into unpopular wars and they were desperate for recuits with highly specialized skills. They began scraping the bottom of the barrel and there have been and are people serving who have NO BUSINESS being in uniform. Thats how Bradley Manning became a thing. He hacked a military server, saw a video of chopper pilots gunning down people and making jokes and leaked the video and other info. Manning himself was a disturbed and suicidal person and the Army wouldn’t discipline him even when he violently overned a table and struck a superior officer. The Army was desperate for intel analysts and kept him. He even wrote a detailed assessment of his own situation and said the Army’s failure to correct him would cause a major problem.
- I was a flight instructor for Navy/Marine/Coast Guard helicopter pilots in the early 00s. At that time, the standard was 3 failed or “down” events (academic event, physical trining event or flight event) and the student was out of flight school, soon to be on their way to filling another position at the needs of the service. We had a female student who had just received her 9th down and we were told to “work with her” and that she’d stay in training, this in the same week three male flight students were sent packing after receiving their 3rd down. This decision wasn’t made at the squadron level…it came from “higher.” This DEI BS is real, it will and has killed people. My first CO told me that flying in the military isn’t a flying club, it’s training you to go to war. This pilot sounds like the flying club type. I have to doubt she did it on purpose, but those wings weren’t taken seriously, they were a resume filler to capitalize on as she climbed the ladder.

- I’m a commercial rated female pilot that earned my pilot ratings (including flight instructor CFI , CFI-I, and ME-I) fixed wing only. It is hard to see at night and the pilots were allegedly all wearing night vision goggles. While NVG help to see at night, they obstruct the periphery of vision by 40%. From the onset I expected this to be an incompetent DEI pilot and the instructor pilot did not see the aircraft due to the NVG in order to take controls and avoid the situation. When pilots are receiving instruction or on a check ride, there must be a pilot watching for aircraft when the other pilot is “under the hood” practicing instrument flying. While military operations require all the pilots on board to wear NVG when one is, that limits the capability to see outside of the aircraft. When on such flights in civilian controlled airspace, the aircraft should be required to remain under positive air traffic control and not allowed to ask for visual separation (meaning helicopter would take responsibility for remaining separated from other air traffic) which had been done in this case and was granted. BIG MISTAKE. Instead of fixing this issue (that could occur elsewhere) all they did was “no helicopters when airplanes using that runway” which leaves this an issue that was just “patched” Sort of like saying “no traffic on interstate 95” — no accidents because there is no traffic still didn’t fix the pothole that exists. In 2024 there were 1,300 aircraft accidents and incidents in the United States with several hundred people losing their lives (NTSB stats on the NTSB site). Most were smaller aircraft that did not make the national news. Some of the accidents / incidents were caused by DEI (mostly female) air traffic controllers, airplane mechanics, and pilots. Some of these: Hawaii female pilot nearly crashed into the ocean, Dallas a female pilot ran off the runway while taxiing after landing, door blew off airplane in route, air traffic controllers nearly turned aircraft in the air into each other (several times especially LAX), tire fell off airplane on take off, etc. Two incidents in 2025: Airplane in Canada ended up upside down when female pilot did not flare and flew it into the ground. Airliner at LaGuardia had to do a go-around and female pilot hit wing – captain had to take controls and she handled the radio after he did (youtube video of this) DEI kills people and as a pilot, I will not fly until the issues are addressed. ATC controllers. pilots, and mechanics ALL need to be re-certified (at least the ones with < ten years experience) and weed out those who do not meet standards instead of passing them along. To address the ATC shortage: Currently MAXIMUM age for hiring an air traffic controller is 31. This leaves out a lot of talented ex-military or other individuals that would make excellent air traffic controllers. Certify military controllers and rotate them in to civilian ATC as part of their training. Instead of addressing the people all that has come out of the DOT is “we are updating the computers” which has very little to do with addressing the qualified controller shortage. Maybe the helicopter pilot did intentionally run into the airliner although I believe it has to do with unqualified DEI and asking for visual separation especially when wearing NVG.
