U.S. Forest Service Attack on the Maude Family Ranch – Lonesome Report – 4/3/25

Jim and Shad dedicate most of this episode to the arrest of Heather and Charles Maude of South Dakota. The Maudes are a young couple with two small children. They operate a ranch in South Dakota and have been harrassed and now arrested over a fence that has been in the same place since 1906. Many in the community believe this is an intimidation tactic, and land grab by the U.S. Forest Service.

I graduated in 1995 and can remember my grandpa and dad discussing moving fence lines back to property line because of a letter sent out by the forest circus and yes I mean circus. There was threats of fines then. I spent my summer moving fences back to the original claimed ground. I guarantee Maudes received the same letters.
