Chapter 1 Page 2

The crowd swelled, voices rising in agreement. No one was backing down.

Luke stood there, surrounded by his friends, feeling the weight of the moment press down on him. He had never wanted this, but it was here now, and there was no turning back.  A crowd gathered around Pat as he was a natural leader… galvanizing us all. The sparks were lighting in patriots all over that field that day as well as in homes all across the nation. We all knew. We all understood that enough was enough. This country was ready to blow.

Back in the present, Luke’s voice softened as he finished the story. His grandchildren, eyes wide and filled with awe, were silent.  They wanted to hear it all.

“That day,” Luke said, his voice heavy, “we realized they weren’t just coming for him. They were coming for all of us. President Trump often said “They’re not after me; they’re after you. I’m just in the way.””

Susie, still clutching her blanket, whispered, “Grandpa, what happened next?”

Luke smiled, but his eyes were distant, lost in the memories of that fateful day. Hi eyes were filled with tears. He wiped his face and at first tried to hide the fact that his eyes were letting loose at that point.

“That’s a story for another time,” he said softly. “But remember this, kiddos: we don’t back down. Ever.”

His eyes glistened with tears, memories from decades past weighing heavily on him. He sniffled, trying to compose himself, but his grandson, Mikey, quickly reached for a tissue from the table beside the bed.

“Here, Grandpa,” Mikey said softly, handing the tissue to Luke.

Luke took it, wiping his tears before blowing his nose. “Illl,” Susie groaned, scrunching her nose at the sound. Luke let out a small chuckle, reaching over to tickle her, lightening the moment.

“Grandpa,” Mikey said, his voice gentle but concerned, “is it hard to tell us this story? I think you need a hug.”

Before Luke could respond, both grandchildren crawled out from under the covers and threw their arms around him, hugging him tightly from both sides. Luke wrapped his arms around them, holding them close. The warmth of their embrace soothed him, but the weight of the story remained.

“It is a bit hard,” Luke admitted, his voice quiet as if confessing a long-buried truth. “I lived through this, kiddos. This was the moment when we all knew… there was going to be a fight. A real one. And not everyone would make it. Not everyone did… ”

Mikey slowly pulled away, his eyes searching Luke’s face. “Like Sgt Pat…” he said softly.

Luke’s heart clenched, and he could feel the sting of fresh tears welling up some more. He took a deep breath and gently patted Mikey’s head. “Yeah… like Sgt Pat.”

For a moment, silence filled the room. The memories of old friends, of battles fought and sacrifices made, loomed like ghosts. Luke cleared his throat, pushing back the tears.

“Okay, kiddos,” Luke said, his voice cracking just a little, “I think I’ll continue this tomorrow. You both okay with that? I need some time to think.”

Susie gave a small nod. “It’s okay, Grandpa. We want to hear it all, but tomorrow is fine.”

“Not that this is ancient history, Grandpa,” Mikey chimed in, “but since it’s been decades since the Second American Revolution, kids like us only know what we read on MuskNet and see in the movies.”

Susie added eagerly, “Didn’t you say President Trump made sure the media told the truth after the revolution?”

Luke smiled, though it was tinged with the weight of what came before. “That he did. The Marxist Democrats had taken over almost 95% of the media. They passed censorship laws, silenced voices, and attacked anyone who disagreed with them. We all saw through it, which is why so many of us stood up. It wasn’t like the First Revolution, where only 3% of the people fought. This time, almost 15% of the whole country rose up and said ‘No more’ to The commies and the American Politburo led by Lord Nobama.”

Luke’s voice trailed off, the memories heavy. He wasn’t just recounting history; he was reliving it.

Susie, ever curious, burrowed back under her covers. “Grandpa, tuck me in again,” she said with a giggle, pulling the blanket up to her chin. Once she was settled, she looked up at Luke and asked, “Why were the Demonscrats such racists and Marsksons?”

Mikey, now back under his covers, chuckled at his sister’s mix-up. “That’s Marxists and Democrats, not Demonscrats you silly Newsom.”

Luke stood up, leaning over to give Susie a kiss on the forehead. “Actually, Demoncrats is pretty close to what they were,” he said with a wry smile. “Believe it or not, some of them even worshipped Satan.” Never forget the Democrats were the source of evil in the United States ever since the first Civil War that they started. When the Republicans fought to stop their slavery and free Blacks from their bondage, they never gave up. They moved into media and dominated all newspapers and such. They planned their next attack on freedom long ago. Long before the Second Revolution.

Susie gasped, quickly pulling the covers over her head. “Illlll!” she cried, her voice muffled by the blanket. A moment later, she peeked out with a smile, her curiosity still bubbling.

Luke made his way around the bed to Mikey’s side, bending down to kiss his grandson on the forehead. “There was so much happening back then that would be unbelievable if it weren’t true. Like something out of a MuskNet script, as you kids say.”

“We used to say ‘like a Hollywood script’ back in the day,” Luke added with a grin.

“I love Elon Musk,” Susie stated cutely from under her blanket. I want to join the Federation when I get older like you grandpa. Now that the world is free like you said. No more Marxists and Communists and United Nations evil. You know…’

Luke chuckled as he started walking toward the door. “Alright, kiddos, I promise we’ll dive deeper into what happened tomorrow. But for now, it’s time for sleep.”

“I love you, Grandpa,” Susie said sweetly as Luke said ‘Lights off. The room darkened.

“I love you more,” Mikey called out right on cue.

Luke smiled,  and closed the door behind him. Before he walked down the hall, he paused for a moment, pressing his ear to the door. From inside, he heard Susie whisper, “Why do you always have to say that? I hate you!”

He laughed quietly to himself and shook his head, the sound of his grandchildren’s playful bickering fading as he walked away.

Luke turned toward the living room and saw his wife Lisa staring. Just her look had a way of calming him.

Luke settled into the couch beside Lisa, feeling the warmth of her presence as he playfully reclined, resting his head on her lap. He knew it was only a matter of moments before her gentle fingers started massaging his scalp—something she’d done since their early days together, a comfort he never took for granted. He closed his eyes and let out a satisfied sigh as her fingers began to weave through his hair in slow, soothing circles. ‘Ahhhh… he let out in an orgasmic like sound. Lisa laughed, a headgasm already. No way, that was too fast.’

“Are we going to that dinner party with Ben and Kathy?” Lisa asked softly, trying not to disturb his comfort too much but knowing that they had to make a decision soon. “They’ve got their whole crew over… the whole colony, as you call them,” she added with a chuckle, knowing the chaos that could come from being in a House with the entire family—nine children, thirty-six grandchildren, and always a flurry of movement and laughter. “Kathy told me Pat was coming home from Reagan this weekend. You’ve always liked Pat more than the rest since he’s our Pat’s kid.”

Luke’s eyes rolled, but he couldn’t help but smile. He and Pat had been like brothers during the revolution and long before.  They had met in Queens New York when they were both 13, at a store they affectionately called Pig Pit F.  That was an acronym that stood for ‘Place I got Punched In the Face. A story for another time. “Yeah, well, he’s a good kid,” Luke murmured, the head massage working its magic. “A lot like his dad was—brave, tough, sharp as a tack. Can’t say no to seeing him again. That boy is Musk’s top man on Reagan these days.  Of all of our colony worlds, Reagan is the most Earth Like, so of course Pat would end up there.”

Lisa could tell there was something deeper going on, and she continued massaging his head, pushing a little harder into his temples, just the way he liked. “What’s on your mind, hon?”

Luke sighed, feeling the memories pressing at the edge of his thoughts. “The kids… Mikey and Susie… they’ve been pressing me to tell them about Pat, the revolution, President Trump… all of it. I started telling them earlier, and it all just… came flooding back.” He paused, his voice cracking slightly. “It’s not easy, you know? I broke down… almost cried loudly. There’s a lot they need to understand, and I’m not sure I’m ready to lay it all out for them. I’m going to try though”

They wouldn’t be here if things went another way. They should know it all’ Lisa said.

Lisa felt his vulnerability, the way his body tensed slightly against her as he spoke. She brushed his hair back and massaged more deeply, trying to pull the tension out of his body. “You think you can tell them, though?”

His eyes filled with tears, and he didn’t try to hide them. She was the one person he never had to hide from. “I started… got choked up,” he admitted, his voice almost a whisper. “But I’ll tell them. They deserve to know. I just… hope they understand what it meant to live through those days. It wasn’t just a story; it was survival, it was freedom itself…”

“Interesting times,” Lisa finished for him, her tone soft and understanding. She knew how hard it was for him to face those memories. Her AI, sensing the phrase, chimed in automatically, reciting, “ ‘May you live in interesting times’ is an English expression that is claimed to be a translation of a traditional Chinese curse—”

“Stop,” Luke said abruptly, his face tightening with irritation. He never liked it when Lisa’s AI cut into their conversations; it felt intrusive, like an outsider butting into something sacred.

Lisa chuckled, a sound as comforting as her touch. “Turn off,” she said calmly. A small light embedded in the fabric of her blouse blinked off. “These damn AIs,” she said with a playful shake of her head. “Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.”

Luke huffed a small laugh, closing his eyes again as her fingers danced across his scalp. The AI’s interruption was already fading into the background, overtaken by the comfort of her touch and the steady rhythm of her breathing. For a moment, he let go of the thoughts of the past, the revolution, and all the struggles that had led them here. All that mattered was this—their home, the woman he loved, and the life they’d built together after all the battles had been fought.

Hey, Sgt. K here—also known as CK Sheldon. I’ve got one book published on Amazon as part of a trilogy, though only the first is currently available due to editing challenges. I’m working on bringing the other two books back, using ChatGPT to refine them, and I’ll likely add this new book there, too, if there’s interest. Since this isn’t about profit for me, you can always read it here on Whatfinger News for free, complete with the original links.

For anyone interested, my Amazon book is Allfather Saga. Fair warning: it’s a mix of science fiction, politics, and a bit of mature content. And yes, Trump makes an appearance in Book 3, though the story is set far into the future.
