Kerry is telling you what the Democratic Party will do if they win this next election. “The dislike of and anguish over social media is growing…making it harder to govern…People self-select where they go for their news or their information…There’s a lot of discussion now about how you curb those [social media] entities…What we need is…to win enough votes so that you’re free to be able to implement change…To me that is part of what this election is all about.”
John Kerry says at a World Economic Forum panel that the First Amendment stands in the way of being able to hammer any “disinformation”-producing entities out of existence and he wishes that there were some sort of arbiter of facts, referring to a Ministry of Truth in so many extra words. The only way to go about doing that is to first win enough votes to make that possible. “Our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to hammer [disinfo/misinfo] out of existence. What we need is to win… the right to govern by hopefully winning enough votes that you’re free to be able to implement change.”
