The highly anticipated “Gladiator 2” is set to be released in theaters on November 22, 2024. Directed by Ridley Scott, this sequel takes place decades after the original 2000 film and follows the story of Lucius, now grown up, who was inspired by the heroic Maximus from the first film. Lucius, portrayed by Paul Mescal, embarks on a journey for vengeance after being taken captive and forced to fight as a gladiator in the Colosseum, much like Maximus.
This time, Lucius faces off against two new antagonists: Joseph Quinn as Emperor Caracalla and Fred Hechinger as his brother Emperor Geta, co-rulers of the Roman Empire. Pedro Pascal joins the cast as Marcus Acacius, a Roman general, and Denzel Washington plays Macrinus, a former slave turned arms dealer and gladiator trainer who has his own ambitions for power in Rome. Additionally, Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi reprise their roles as Lucilla and Senator Gracchus, respectively.
Ridley Scott has teased that “Gladiator 2” will feature the biggest action sequence he has ever filmed, setting the tone for an epic return to Ancient Rome.
