- Hit the Sierra Nevada with gusts up to 190 mph.
- Heavy snow on Sunday led to the closure of key roads to Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain areas.
- Blizzard warnings:
- Extended through Monday morning for Lake Tahoe.
- Until Sunday night for Mammoth Mountain.
- Road closures:
- Key roads to Mammoth Mountain from Southern California, and to the northern Tahoe area from Sacramento and Reno, remained closed on Sunday afternoon.
- Weather forecasts:
- Gusts over 100 mph expected on Sierra ridges through early Monday.
- At Donner Pass along Interstate 80, an additional 18 inches of snow anticipated through early Monday.
- Most new snow expected from Highway 50 northward, including the Lake Tahoe region.
- Around Mammoth Lakes, south of Highway 50, another 1 to 4 inches of snow could fall by Monday morning.
- Potential for more snow:
- A brief gap in snowfall expected on Monday.
- By nightfall into Tuesday, more snow could fall, mainly over the Sierra north of Highway 50.
- Avalanche warnings in place through Sunday night.
- Road conditions:
- U.S. 395 to Mammoth Mountain ski resort was closed in both directions for many hours on Saturday and Sunday, due to multiple spinouts, collisions, and whiteout conditions.
- The 75-mile stretch between northwest of Bishop in Inyo County to Bridgeport in Mono County was affected.
- Road to the south reopened late Saturday but was shut down again overnight.
