- The individual was initially deemed a “mismatch” by the Terrorist Screening Center after being caught near San Ysidro, California, on March 13, 2023, but later confirmed as a member of al-Shabaab involved in explosives or firearms on January 18, 2024.

The unnamed individual entered U.S. illegally in March of 2023 and was released into the country because the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) “deemed him a ‘mismatch’” after running his name through the terror watchlist. In January of this year the TSC “made a redetermination” that the individual was “a confirmed member of al-Shabaab” and was involved in the use, manufacture or transport of explosives or firearms. Two days after ICE arrested this terrorist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Al-Shabaab is a Sunni Islamic terrorist group that publicly pledged loyalty to al-Qa’ida.
