A few days ago Americans woke up to a late Christmas gift from Congress: $34 trillion in debt. The milestone comes just 105 days since it broke $33 trillion. Of course, $34 trillion doesn’t begin to cover what Congress promised and will never deliver. Between social security, medicare, and gold-plated government pensions, the federal government owes at least a million dollars per American household.
