Football Australia has launched an immediate investigation into fan violence that erupted during the Melbourne derby game. Goalkeeper Tom Glover was escorted off the field with a bloody head, after a bin was thrown at him.

• This pitch invasion in Australia is nuts. These clubs have only been in existence for a short while. Thugs using football as an extension and conduit for whatever tribalism they have.
