Kroger BUSTED RIPPING Customers Off! Charging 60% More Than Advertised In HUGE SCAM!

  • Our Kroger gas station upped their gas .30 cents IN ONE DAY. They’re notorious for doing it. Can’t tell me that’s not greed.
  • Remember when stuff like this used to be illegal? It’s almost like when you stop enforcing laws, people become emboldened to break them further. Who would have thought.
  • IVE BEEN SCREAMING THIS SINCE 2020!! EVERY SINGLE TIME ive gone there the sale items…. listed at the store AND in the paper flyer… ring up full price at the register. I even showed the store manager. I haven’t shopped at Kroger in 4 years because of this
  • This is because they want the skeleton crew of employees to pull every single sale tag and replace them all in one day. Knowing Kroger, the archaic software involved was too un-user friendly as could be. But the shareholders are happy.
  • In Michigan they have a scanner law. If an item rings up differently from the advertised price you get at least a dollar and up to 10X the difference up to $5 as punishment for cheating the customers who didn’t catch it. Meijers fixes this quickly once enough people collect the money.
  • They’ve been doing that for years and I ALWAYS call a front end manager, and they ALWAYS honor the advertised price because it’s the law. I’m never rude about it, they’re never rude about it. They know most people would rather be gauged than be inconvenienced to call a manager. Brian in Blacksburg VA, you’re an awesome dude.
  • Walmart is still overcharging for prepackaged meats and fruits. I went to get a bag of apples the other day, and the price on the tag was about $5 for about 3 1/2 lbs. I weighed it, and it was barely 2 lbs.
  • This sounds illegal. When I was in retail, the price was whatever was on the tag. Whether the sale expired or not, if a customer brought the item to the counter and showed the price, that’s what they get it for. No way chain stores win this
  • Jeremy, I’m retired and live on a “fixed income” ,so yeah, every time I set foot in the grocery store I’m always watching the prices; I usually do my grocery shopping at Aldi because they’re about 10.0 to 15.0 cheaper than than Kroger, unless I’m looking for something specific that I know Aldi doesn’t carry
  • I noticed Kroger doing this with their generic pop… they were charging $1.00 for a 2L bottle, then the next week they were “on sale” at 4 for $5.00 or $1.25 each
  • a store in my area started doing this after 2020. they had raised the price but never changed the tags. for example a bag of fries was listed at 5$ but were ringing up at 8$ id tell them the tag says 5$ and theyd change it to 5$ for my sale but never changed the tags. I stopped going to that store for a few years because it was so annoying telling them every time.
  • This exact thing happened to me 2 weeks ago at my local Kroger (Smith’s) store. Their kettle chips had a $1.99 tag on the shelf but rang up at $3.49. The most frustrating thing about that store is that the registers do not take off the discounts until you have rung up your entire cart. It’s only when you push PAY that the register will take off all discounts and adjust the final price. If buying more than 2 or 3 items you have to keep a running total in your head of what the total should be otherwise you’ll pay extra for every thing.
  • I used to work for Walgreens a couple years ago and the corporate suits expected us to wait until closing to pull old tags and put up new ones. In reality, putting up new sale tags, especially monthly tags, usually took multiple days, especially when we are short-staffed and/or busy. So, I can see a lot of this being due to employees either not having the time or not caring enough to update tags. One thing that I did notice while working for Walgreens is that they often raised prices and then advertised the old price as the sale price. That is 100% intentional.
