Time to Evict the UN: Why Trump Must Lead America’s Exit from the Globalist Fiasco

Trump’s administration has already acted decisively, pulling out of UNESCO in July 2025 over its promotion of “woke” social causes that clash with national interests.

Extending this to the full UN would save billions, redirecting funds to domestic priorities like border security and infrastructure.Beyond the wallet, the UN erodes U.S. sovereignty through insidious pacts and initiatives. The recently adopted Pact for the Future, pushed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, exemplifies this threat. This non-binding yet coercive document seeks to “reinvigorate” global action under UN auspices, proposing everything from a Special Envoy for Future Generations to combat climate change, to an Emergency Platform granting the Secretary-General sweeping powers during crises like pandemics.

It demands ambitious emissions cuts, billions in funding for digital connectivity in developing nations, and reforms shifting power from the U.S. to less developed countries in institutions like the IMF and World Bank. Heritage Foundation experts warn it’s a “diplomatic cudgel” against America, promoting leftist ideologies on climate and “ethical economies” while conflicting with U.S. policies, such as reaffirming obligations to the International Court of Justice—from which the U.S. has withdrawn consent. Trump’s opposition to such globalist overreach aligns perfectly; he should reject it outright, as it empowers an organization dominated by human rights abusers like China, Cuba, and Russia. The UN’s blatant anti-American and anti-Israel bias further justifies expulsion. The Human Rights Council (HRC), which the U.S. wisely exited under Trump in 2018, is a farce, condemning Israel more than all other nations combined since 2006 while ignoring abuses in China, Iran, and Venezuela. Rejoining under Biden was a mistake; Trump should pull out again to expose this hypocrisy.

The General Assembly routinely passes resolutions demanding Israel relinquish land, showing a pro-Palestinian tilt that bolsters terrorists like Hamas. Meanwhile, the UN’s peacekeeping operations are mired in failure: Disasters in Somalia and Rwanda, ongoing violence in South Sudan despite deployments, and scandals involving sexual abuse and cholera outbreaks in Haiti. Deployments have plummeted, with no new missions amid global crises, proving the body’s impotence. Even on terrorism, the UN lacks a definition, allowing groups like Hezbollah to operate freely in Lebanon. Hanson nailed it: The UN hasn’t brokered peace in years, while Trump achieved breakthroughs without it. Hosting the UN in New York adds insult to injury. The New York State Conservative Party has called for its eviction, decrying the organization as a “bureaucratic shell hostile to America and its values.”

Diplomats flagrantly disregard local laws, racking up tens of millions in unpaid parking fines and treating the city with contempt. The prime East River real estate could become a public park, benefiting New Yorkers instead of subsidizing an entity that works against U.S. interests. Moreover, the headquarters has long been a hotbed for espionage, with foreign agents exploiting diplomatic immunity to spy on America. Evicting the UN would enhance national security and end this farce. Corruption permeates UN agencies, making withdrawal imperative. The World Health Organization (WHO), captured by the Chinese Communist Party, botched the COVID-19 response by echoing Beijing’s lies on origins and transmission.

Its proposed Pandemic Treaty would override U.S. sovereignty on health policies, demanding surveillance and resource sharing—powers Trump froze funding over in 2020. The U.S. pumps over $700 million annually into the WHO, getting politicized agendas in return. Similarly, bodies like the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and World Tourism Organization offer no value; the U.S. was right to withdraw from them previously and shouldn’t rejoin. In an ideal world, as National Review argues, Trump would exit the General Assembly and many agencies, redirecting funds to effective bilateral alliances. Public sentiment backs this move. A 2024 Pew survey shows only 34% of Republicans view the UN favorably, reflecting disillusionment with its bias and waste.

Trump’s “America First” ethos—proven in reducing UN funding and exiting flawed councils—positions him perfectly to lead this charge. By throwing out the UN and withdrawing, he can restore U.S. primacy, protect sovereignty from globalist schemes, and ensure taxpayer dollars serve Americans, not tyrants. As Hanson implores, it’s time for that serious conversation—before the UN drags us further into irrelevance. No more Climate Change propaganda, and no more dictates by the Marxists and Globalists in charge at the UN. Get America out of the UN and the UN out of America.
