The Ever-Shifting Cholesterol Goalposts. Big Pharma’s Billion-Dollar Scam That’s Destroying American Health

Articles is below this top clip on the scam 🛑

“What was considered acceptable cholesterol in 1960 was 300, then 240, then 200.” “Every time they lower that number, another 50 million Americans need drugs. That’s not medicine. That’s marketing.” “For every 1,000 healthy people who take statins, they prevent exactly one heart attack. The other 999 just get side effects.” “When researchers studied people over the age of 60, those with higher cholesterol lived longer. Not shorter, longer.” “But your conventional doctor doesn’t know this because… the very guidelines they follow are written by Big Pharma.”

The Ever-Shifting Cholesterol Goalposts: Big Pharma’s Billion-Dollar Scam That’s Destroying American Health

In a viral post (Vid above)  “What was considered acceptable cholesterol in 1960 was 300, then 240, then 200,” the speaker explains in the video. “Every time they lower that number, another 50 million Americans need drugs. That’s not medicine. That’s marketing.” This isn’t just a casual observation—it’s a damning indictment of how Big Pharma, in cahoots with captured government agencies, has manipulated health guidelines to pad their profits while sidelining real solutions and harming millions. For years, conservatives have warned about the dangers of overreaching government and corporate greed eroding personal freedoms, including the right to make informed health choices without being force-fed pills.
The cholesterol narrative is a prime example. Back in the 1960s, total cholesterol levels up to 300 mg/dL were deemed normal, with little fanfare about heart disease risks. But as statin drugs like Lipitor hit the market, guidelines mysteriously tightened. By the 1980s, the threshold dropped to 240 mg/dL, and by the early 2000s, it was 200 mg/dL or lower for many. The 2013 American Heart Association guidelines went even further, recommending statins for anyone with a 7.5% or higher 10-year risk of cardiovascular events, effectively putting tens of millions more on the drug treadmill.
Why the constant shift? Follow the money. Statins are a $20 billion annual market in the U.S. alone, with Pfizer’s Lipitor once raking in $125 billion globally as the best-selling drug in history.
Each time thresholds drop, Big Pharma gains a fresh batch of “patients”—healthy people turned into lifelong customers. As one conservative health commentator put it, “It’s a $20 billion annual market for a drug that helps 0.1% of the people who take it.” This isn’t science; it’s crony capitalism at its worst, where pharmaceutical giants fund the very panels that write the rules. In 2004, when guidelines were lowered again, eight out of nine panel members had financial ties to statin manufacturers.
Groups like the Center for Science in the Public Interest blasted these changes as tainted by industry influence, but the damage was done. The lies run deep. Big Pharma peddles the myth that high cholesterol is the primary culprit behind heart disease, but that’s a fabrication rooted in corruption. In the 1960s, the sugar industry bribed Harvard scientists to downplay sugar’s role in heart disease and scapegoat saturated fats and cholesterol instead. Internal documents exposed this bribery, revealing how the narrative was bought and paid for. Cholesterol isn’t the villain—it’s essential for brain function (your brain is 25% cholesterol), hormone production, and cell repair. Lowering it artificially disrupts these processes, leading to disaster. Take the side effects: For every 1,000 healthy people on statins, only one heart attack is prevented, while the other 999 endure needless harm.
Up to 29% develop severe muscle soreness that prevents exercise—the very thing that actually fights heart disease. Nine percent get diabetes, which ironically causes heart issues. Other horrors include neuropathy, dementia, cancer, tendon ruptures, strokes, and cardiovascular problems. Statins block CoQ10, vital for energy production, leading to muscle pain and mitochondrial dysfunction. They also inhibit Heme A, crucial for the electron transport chain. Nearly half of users quit within a year due to intolerable effects like muscle deterioration, liver damage, and nerve issues. Worse, the benefits are overhyped. Studies show statins extend life by a mere three to four days after five years of use for the average person. There’s no evidence dietary cholesterol causes cardiovascular disease, and saturated fats have no effect on heart attacks, strokes, or mortality. In fact, people with higher cholesterol often live longer, especially over 60.
A buried study showed every 1% drop in cholesterol correlates with a 1% rise in mortality. Low cholesterol below 180 mg/dL spikes cancer and dementia rates, while LDL under 70 mg/dL triples hemorrhagic stroke risk. This scam hurts Americans profoundly. Forty million are on statins, many unnecessarily, suffering side effects that diminish quality of life. Conservatives know Big Government and Big Pharma collude to control us—think COVID mandates. Doctors get just four hours of nutrition training but 400 on pharmacology, following guidelines written by Pharma’s payroll. Real solutions? A low-carb diet with nutrient-dense animal foods, ditching seed oils, sugar, and processed junk. This keeps triglycerides low and HDL high—the true markers of heart health. The cholesterol myth exemplifies how elites profit from our pain. As one X user noted, “The higher your LDL, the longer you live.” It’s time to reject the lies, reclaim our health, and hold Big Pharma accountable. No more moving goalposts—just freedom to thrive without their toxic interventions.
