My friends parents were beaten to death with golf clubs, they were 84 & 88, in 2005, so this has always been very personal to me! These savage murders have been going on for so long now that we have almost let it become a part of our every day lives & this is really just a tiny portion of what goes on in SA. We left SA two years ago after a home invasion, 5 guys with AK47’s & R1 Rifles came into our house in the middle of the night, held up myself, husband and my kids & their partners, there is a level of trauma that never leaves you, so most cannot imagine what these farmers & their families experience – Evie G

• My friend Amy Biehl was murdered in South Africa by a gang of thugs. Dragged out of her car and beaten to death. All because she was a white girl helping impoverished South Africans. She was a Fulbright Scholar, Stanford University graduate, and anti-apartheid activist in South Africa. She was murdered in 1993 by a mob in Gugulethu, a township near Cape Town, during a period of political unrest.
