One of the first issues the teacher had us research and write an essay on, was about tariffs and whether or not Obama would respond to a move that China had made. It was about whether we felt it was fair and what the appropriate response would be. People who keep an eye on this stuff knew there was a problem for a while. - Labour force participation rate is the % of people working and/or looking for work. The unemployment rate is based on % of labour force participants working compared to total participants (as above). The higher unemployment rate is likely because of people who had given up looking for work getting back in the search. It’s a stealthy good sign, because it indicates people are more hopeful about their prospects.
- You only lose money in the market if you sell. Stop panicking and wait it out. Most normal people wouldn’t have lost money in 2008 if they had just held out.
- Inbetween jobs for about a week and hope the low market holds long enough for me to get some checks again and boost my stock portfolio while its low. If there was ever an obvious time to buy in it was during covid and now. When things recover theres money to be made.
