- I am not against deportation of those that entered this country illegally – it is a risk that they take when they commit the crime. As a naturalized citizen from the UK, I am proud of being an American and doing it the “right” way. That being said, I find it concerning & a slippery slope when due process is ignored. I don’t know ANY government, let alone the US one, that doesn’t make mistakes. Even if the risk is only 1% inaccuracy, we are talking about a huge number of people that can be whisked away and their life turned upside down all in the blink of an eye. No one to see them, hear them, fight for them. I am concerned because if it can happen to the 1%, it can happen to me, my family, you, or yours just by *accusation alone*. What good is being legal, if no one checks that you are? The moment that we, as regular people, allow our freedoms to be violated is when unimaginable things can start to occur. It is LITERALLY how Germans caved to the fascist regime. The majority did not like the overreach – but they sure as heck weren’t going to say anything, or it was them that would end up in the concentration camps.
