• I think I speak for many Canadians when I say that everyone wakes up feeling more homesick than the day before. The problem is that home no longer exists. The place we grew up and loved is gone. All you want is to go home but there is no home to go back to.

I hate the new batch of people, they look at this place as something to exploit and take advantage of, they want to bring their aging family for a hospital bed and have the mentality that they’ll go back to their homeland if things get bad yet this is my home and I don’t want to go anywhere else but it’s sad how the country has changed for the worst. The 90s were close to paradise and I wish I could go back.
• Canada was once a pretty great country. I even considered retiring there, but changed my mind after Trudeau was elected. Unfortunately until the populace changes its position on government being the solution instead of the cancerous problem things are unlikely to change.
• Canada looks like it does because of Canadian voters. I do not want another huge California in the US. Just like I do not want us to plant a US flag on a strip of land in the Middle-East. Both of these proposals don’t seem like very good deals for the American people.
• I never really understood the concept of Canadian Pride. I grew up in Newfoundland, hearing the unique Newfie dialect, seeing Newfie traditions, eating Newfie food, etc. As an adult, I lived all over Canada but never saw that level of shared culture. The only Canadian pride I ever saw was cheer the Olympic hockey team, and references to Tim Horton’s or maple syrup, and like you said “we’re nicer than Americans”. I even joked who should I cheer for in the NHL, the American teams with Canadian players or “Canadian” teams with Russian players? Trudeau’s anti-Canadian rhetoric for years made me really appreciate the Newfoundland culture. I would be overjoyed to join the US. People could always keep multiple regional identities (like people proud to be Texan and proud to be American). Their identity built on fighting for the freedoms is something to be proud of. What does the Maple Leaf represent anyway? “Don’t mess with Canada… or we’ll shrivel up and blow away”
