DOJ Strikes Again: Trump Administration Targets California’s Redistricting Power Grab

In a bold move that’s scaring the hell out of Newscum in California, the Trump Department of Justice has filed suit against California to halt Governor Gavin Newsom’s controversial redistricting plan. As reported by conservative journalist Nick Sortor on X (post is above), the DOJ is accusing the state of orchestrating a “brazen power grab” aimed at eliminating Republican representatives through manipulated congressional maps. Attorney General Pam Bondi didn’t mince words, stating that Newsom’s scheme “tramples on civil rights and mocks the democratic process.” This latest legal salvo, announced on November 13, 2025, underscores the escalating tensions between the federal government and California’s liberal leadership, marking yet another instance where the DOJ has stepped in to challenge what conservatives view as unconstitutional overreach by the Golden State.

The lawsuit centers on Proposition 50, a ballot measure pushed by Newsom and approved by voters earlier this month. The plan redraws congressional districts in a way that critics argue favors Democrats by racially gerrymandering lines to boost Hispanic voter influence as a proxy for partisan gain. The DOJ’s complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, alleges violations of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Bondi emphasized that “race cannot be used as a proxy to advance political interests,” highlighting how the legislature’s focus on Latino demographics dominated the map-drawing process. This action comes on the heels of similar redistricting efforts in Republican-led states like Texas, but conservatives argue California’s version crosses into illegal territory by prioritizing racial quotas over fair representation.

Newsom, ever the defiant progressive, has dismissed the suit as sour grapes from “losers” who couldn’t win at the ballot box, but Republicans see it as essential to preventing one-party dominance in a state already plagued by what they call electoral manipulation. This redistricting battle is no isolated incident. Since President Donald Trump reclaimed the White House in January 2025, his administration has launched multiple lawsuits against California, targeting policies that conservatives decry as radical, discriminatory, and in flagrant violation of federal law. Under Newsom’s governance, the state has positioned itself as a bastion of progressive resistance, but the DOJ’s aggressive enforcement has exposed what many on the right view as hypocritical and unlawful agendas. From voting integrity to gender policies, these suits reflect a concerted effort to rein in California’s excesses and restore adherence to constitutional principles.

Let’s break down the key actions taken by the DOJ over these past months, drawing from conservative reporting that highlights the administration’s commitment to accountability. First, in June 2025, the DOJ sued the Orange County Registrar of Voters, Robert Page, for obstructing federal efforts to ensure election integrity. The lawsuit accused Page of redacting critical identifying information from records of voters removed for noncitizenship, violating the Help America Vote Act and the National Voter Registration Act.

This stemmed from President Trump’s executive order mandating proof of citizenship for voter registration, amid concerns over noncitizen voting in deep-blue areas. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon stressed that noncitizen voting is a federal crime and that transparent voter rolls are vital for fair elections. Conservatives hailed this as a necessary strike against potential fraud, especially after reports of undocumented immigrants receiving mail-in ballots. While the suit targeted a county official, it sent a clear message to Newsom’s administration about federal oversight on California’s lax voting practices, which have long been criticized for enabling irregularities.

Just a month later, in July 2025, the DOJ escalated its offensive by suing the California Department of Education and the California Interscholastic Federation over the state’s transgender athlete policies. The complaint alleged violations of Title IX, the federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in education, by allowing biological males to compete in girls’ sports based on gender identity. This policy, enacted in 2013 under Newsom’s watch, has led to female athletes being displaced from podiums, losing scholarships, and facing unfair competition due to inherent physiological advantages. Attorney General Bondi pointed out Newsom’s own admission that such arrangements are “deeply unfair,” yet the state persisted, ignoring a Department of Education resolution agreement demanding compliance.

Dhillon added that the DOJ won’t tolerate policies that “deprive girls of their hard-earned athletic trophies and ignore their safety.” Conservative outlets framed this as a victory for women’s rights, contrasting it with California’s “woke gender ideology” that prioritizes identity politics over biological reality. The suit seeks a permanent injunction, record corrections for affected athletes, and ongoing compliance monitoring, potentially jeopardizing billions in federal education funding for the state. These actions build on a pattern established early in Trump’s second term, where the DOJ has used civil rights and federal preemption arguments to challenge California’s outlier status. Conservatives argue that Newsom’s leadership has turned the state into a testing ground for extreme policies that undermine national unity, from sanctuary protections that shield illegal immigrants to environmental mandates that burden businesses. The redistricting suit, in particular, is seen as a direct response to Newsom’s “fight fire with fire” rhetoric, where he openly admitted the plan was retaliatory against GOP efforts in Texas.

Trump himself vowed legal action back in August, calling it a necessary check on Democratic overreach. With Republicans holding a slim House majority, blocking California’s map could preserve GOP seats and prevent what Breitbart described as a “Democrat power grab.” Critics on the left decry these suits as partisan vendettas, but from a conservative lens, they’re essential corrections to a state that’s drifted too far from American values. Newsom’s administration has spent millions defending these policies, diverting resources from pressing issues like homelessness and crime. As the cases unfold, they could force California to realign with federal standards or face financial penalties. With more potential clashes on the horizon—such as renewed fights over immigration enforcement—the Trump DOJ shows no signs of backing down. This ongoing legal warfare highlights the deep ideological divide, but for conservatives, it’s a welcome return to law and order after years of perceived federal weakness.

Summing it all up: the DOJ’s suits since January 2025 include:

  • June: Challenge to Orange County’s handling of noncitizen voter records, enforcing election integrity laws.
  • July: Title IX lawsuit against transgender athlete policies, protecting female students’ rights.
  • November: Intervention in redistricting dispute, blocking alleged racial gerrymandering.

These moves affirm the Trump administration’s pledge to hold rogue states accountable, ensuring that no governor can subvert the Constitution for political gain. That’s the public view. But still, as of 11/13/2025, nothing has been done to stop voter fraud. The Democrats are still ready to take over Congress via voter fraud, with the Deep State’s help in 2026. Then, they steal the White House using the same 20-30 million fake votes they employed to defeat Trump in 2020.  Everything Trump is now doing will be reversed if Pam Bondi doesn’t get off her ass and start doing something to stop voter fraud. Everything else means nothing in the final judgement if the Democrats and Deep State are allowed to take over, destroy American freedom and of course throw Trump and family in prison. Will Trump let it all happen? Tick, Tock…
