The US really does need to get back to ship building. It would create a ton of jobs directly and would facilitate a resurgence of the steel industry, creating even more jobs with the added bonus of taking business from China

The last time the Chinese navy won a naval battle, the ships had sails. Let’s wait and see how they get on when it is for real. All the gear and no idea didn’t become a cliche by being wrong.
America can counter-act China’s shipbuilding by forming a shipbuilding alliance agreements with countries like Japan and South Korea. A big union that supports each other’s development. The U.S. government can support it with the reason for national security. The support would jumpstart a wave of ship production. U.S. support goes a long way in development, and for speedy execution when it comes to rebuilding Naval forces. But, I just hope that this issue is taken seriously, our national security is at stake.
