• If a song called “Kill the White Farmer” isn’t banned, neither should this song. I dislike both, but we don’t destroy discourse for people being offended.
• Imagine being so frail you can’t stomach hearing the name of a famous dictator from dam near a century ago . Wild times we’re in
• As someone who gives ZERO Fs about Ye or rap music in general, it’s a fucking brilliant song. Targeting exactly who he wanted to offend.
• The fact that I can’t google this song and easily find it is a massive problem. As a great man once said, “I’m sorry! I thought this was America!”
• “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” This was standard parental advice for children since around the 18th century. I would highly recommend everyone implement that now in the 21st century. Being hurt by words makes you soft and childlike. Grow up.
• This reminds me of the 80’s with the “parental advisory” label they slapped on records. It made the content more appealing.
• Joe’s right. If they ban his song they’re just proving him right about everything else. First they take his money, then his kids, then would be his music..
• It’s very telling that this song is banned, but not Kanye’s blk skn head song where in the video, they literally dress in pointed hood attire and everything. And that song gets used in advertisements (see Wolf of Wall Street). It’s ok to be offensive to some groups, but you can’t even talk about this one group.
• Here’s what the German translates as at the end of the song… “Whether you think my work is right, whether you believe that I have been diligent, that I have worked, that I have stood up for you during these years, that I have used my time decently in the service of my people. You cast your vote now, if yes, then stand up for me as I stood up for you.” The Good Guys don’t always win.
