• China‘s six largest banks reported a $1 billion profit drop in the first quarter of 2025, marking a decrease of 7.3 billion yuan compared to the same period last year. This decline indicates a stalling economy, exacerbated by the ongoing tariff war between China and the United States,
• I lived in China from 2015 to 2016, working as a yard quality manager on a major liquid natural gas project. I was stationed in Qidong, about a two hour drive from Shanghai. I found out that Chinese manufacturing is less than desirable. They were always cutting corners, using sub-standard material, working people who were not certified for the activity they were performing, such as welding. It was a constant battle to get them to comply. Even then, I did not have enough inspectors to catch everything. To the Chinese, it isn’t about a quality product but reaching the next invoicing milestone, no matter what it takes to get there. I went from 224 pounds to 179 by the time I left. The stress was tremendous, and I have no desire to go back under those circumstances. However, if any of you are looking for a great weight loss experience, China is the place to go. – Robert C
