Today, he was elected by the College of Cardinals after white smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel. Pope Leo is expected to carry forward a global vision for the Catholic Church, much like his predecessor, Pope Francis. He is also fairly young for a Pope at 69 years old, which means he will likely serve for well over a decade.
