The scroll was damaged during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and Luke with a few classmates used 3D scans and machine learning to virtually uncrumple the scroll and decipher it. This not only caught the attention of the AI community, but Peter Thiel, who awarded Luke $100,000 to become a Thiel fellow, where young entrepreneurs are encouraged to pursue their passion like the Ethereum founder and Figma founder. But Luke’s now been recruited to work at DOGE where the team’s been sleeping in the office, crunching code, and working around the clock to identify waste, fraud and abuse.
