NEW: Doordash users will be able to take out a loan to pay for lunch after the company struck a deal with Klarna. Customers will be able to split a payment into 4 interest-free installments or defer payments to a more convenient date. Taking out a loan to buy lunch may be the most insane thing I’ve ever heard. - If you have to take out a loan to pay for Taco Bell delivery, you REALLY need to rethink your life choices. – Nick Sortor
- So you’re telling me I can buy a $8 meal, pay another $8 in fees and tax, and only pay $4 today? Yeah. This is going to work very well on the people who need this service the least. – Eric Daugherty
- Take the leftover money and invest it in the S&P. That $12 will be worth at least $12.50 in a few months. – Collin Rugg
- “What type of deal did you get on that pepperoni pizza?” “I lucked out. 5% down, 30-year mortgage at a 5.5% interest rate.”
- This is what a collapsing economy looks like, people financing their lunch like it’s a car payment. But don’t worry, the ‘experts’ will still tell you everything is fine. – Chaotic Genius
- This is just another example of how big corporations are taking advantage of people’s financial struggles, making it easier for them to get into debt. It’s ridiculous that Doordash is encouraging users to take out loans for something as trivial as lunch, and Klarna is enabling this reckless behavior. What’s next, taking out a loan to buy a coffee? This is not responsible financial planning, it’s just a recipe for disaster. – Stop Socialist Tyranny
- Personally I think Klarna and Afterpay are good. These Pay in 4 “loans” have 0 interest, it just splits them every 2 weeks. So instead of that $100 feast you order, you pay $25 every two weeks. The only disadvantage is it tempts you to overspend. Just have self control – Farmer P
