• I’m all on board w/ the elimination of the use of SNAP for junk, however, “healthy foods” are generally not shelf stable & are not cheap. 4 Fam’s rec’ing SNAP buying processed/boxed goods stretches further. So, unless provisions are made to accommodate the cost will hurt them.
• Years ago, food stamp people got cheese, rice, milk powder etc. the point is to be healthier and have a plan to become self sufficient. Keeping people on welfare is a form of control. – Tina Flanner
• WIC & Medicare food/otc cards have “allowed items” so should EBT. I worked as a cashier & the amount of pop, pizzas, chips, ice cream & candy is ridiculous. A hot rotisserie chicken isn’t allowed on EBT however it’s ok in a refrigerated state. The junk is insane! – Kelly Hicks
