Way to stick by your guns Eagles. If you make a choice at least have the balls to stick by it.
The Eagles didn’t go in 2018, when they won, so this is definitely a response to a ton of negative publicity. Nobody seemed to care in 2018, but today, their divisive behavior will not be tolerated, and they backed down. Why be petty, and finish their season’s activities with a horrible PR decision?
Considering the war path trump is on (I love it) I don’t think they would have clarified if it wasn’t true. I think someone let personal, cloosed door conversations become a teams PR team in this case. Don’t have to be a fan of trump to respect the office.
What actually happened last time was many players were not gonna go. Remember that team had Malcolm Jenkins and 2 former patriots that didn’t go when the patriots won: Chris long and LeGarret Blount. So the team was going to send a “smaller contingent of players”. Trump then cancelled their invitation because it would’ve looked bad. A lot of eagles fans were mad back then. I used to listen to a lot of sports radio. WIP and the FAN and a lot of people called in to complain about them not going.
I would have had a hard time going and shaking Obama’s hand, but as someone who is representing all of my fans, not just the conservative republican ones? Yeah, I’d go, I’d shake his hand, I’d thank him for the honor, even though we aren’t on the same page politically.
