• in the 80s, malls were for “da yoots”. video-game arcades, fast food, trendy clothing stores. i’m in california, and i never saw one crime at my nearest mall. i was there a lot – i lived within walking distance. i had jobs at 2 stores. i got my “personics” custom cassette tapes there. oakridge mall, san jose. it was cool once, but now it’s a valet-parked pile of latest-thing garbage. my childhood is dead.
• Just this week, people were complaining on Facebook about kids causing trouble in my local town. Nobody did anything as per usual. So, yesterday, one kid got stabbed not far from McDonald’s. This happened in UK, but it’s happening all over the world.
• My local mall instituted a 18 and over policy 5 years ago. Anyone younger had to have a parent or guardian with them. They also stopped unattended city transit for anyone under 18 bc kids were taking the bus to the mall. Too little too late. The mall is on life support now. Of course local “community leaders” decreed the whole thing as racist rather than address the problem. It’s all so tiresome.
• Im soo glad I lived in a rural area my entire life. Can go to bed at night or leave for the weekend and not worry about locking the door. Cities are disgusting…and you wont change my mind
