A teen genius with a 4.4 GPA and 1590 SAT Score—who was hired straight out of high school by Google for a Ph.D level Software Engineer position—was rejected by 16 out of 18 colleges including 5 UC Schools: Berkeley, Davis, UCLA, UCSD and UCSB. Now he’s suing for racial discrimination against “highly qualified Asian-American candidates.”
- He should sue but having recently gone thru the college admissions process there are thousands of students with similar qualifications who don’t get into top rated Ivies. There’s just a lot of competition for very few seats.
- He wasn’t solely rejected by Ivies. He was rejected by all 5 UC Schools he applied to. For reference, 75% of applicants admitted to UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara had a GPA lower than 4.2. This applicant had a 4.4 GPA and a 1590 SAT score.
- End this now. My daughter’s average was 4.8 and she also had a 1590, near perfect score. National Honor Society, spelling bee champion, student government, every state and national award imaginable. Rejected from University of Florida! She is a resident. Make that make sense!
- Add@GeorgiaTech to that list when it comes to white males. Our friend’s kid had a perfect ACT score, 4.4 GPA in all AP/Honor classes, tons of Extra-curricular activities, Eagle Scout, additional volunteering, etc. I know several others that weren’t white makes, significantly leas qualified that got into GT.
- They need to remove race/gender from applications all together. Assign each applicant an applicant Id number that hides their name from the process. They should be forced to only look at qualifications
- “meritless”, that’s a cheeky way of denying admission. There’s a quota system for Asians at DEI schools especially when excelling in grades and tests. I’m happy Stanley took the offer from google straight out of high school. At least he’ll make some real money.
- I’ve seen this personally. As a former teacher, I had a student who scored a 35 on the ACT and was salutatorian of her class. She was captain of the robotics team for middle school and high school. She beat brain cancer and lived a very humble life with the siblings she had a 4.2 GPA And got into none of the schools that she had applied to including Georgia Tech. When I would tell parents not to get their hopes up for the schools, they would not believe me. And then they would go through it.
- He’s absolutely right. Sharpton and race-hustling Dems talk about “systemic racism.” This is actual systemic racism. Asian people should be furious. They are actively discriminated against as they are held to a higher standard than other races to get into elite universities.
