EXCLUSIVE: @SecRubio  on Canada, 51st State and the Hot Mic Moment HERRIDGE: “In a hot mike moment, Canada’s prime minister said that absorbing Canada “is a real thing.”  Is it a real thing?” SECRETARY RUBIO: “Yeah, look, you know how that came about?  President’s meeting with Trudeau and Trudeau says, well, if you impose – if you even out our trade relationship, then we will cease to exist a country, at which point the President responded very logically, and that is, well, if you can’t exist without cheating in trade, then you should become a state. That was his observation there.” QUESTION:  “That’s how it started?”  SECRETARY RUBIO:  “It is how it started.”

• History tells us Canada are Royalists. Canada is where the traitor Loyalists fled after the Revolution. They weren’t trusted then and shouldn’t be trusted now.
• Rubio has come a long way from being “Little Marco” to SOS with such confidence. I am not disparaging Rubio, but the truth of the matter is that Trump made a man out of boy in Rubio.
• It’s amazing what you can learn in an interview with a professional unbiased reporter. I was pleasantly surprised to see how knowledgeable, articulate and composed Rubio was in this interview. Trump finally has some very strong people around him.
• The fine art of trolling eludes mainstream media to this day. When Trump drops an obvious troll, MAGA seizes it and will make it a thing within 24 hours. This leaves journalists like Herridge needing to ask official questions to spell out the reality that everyone familiar with Trump knew from the moment it dropped. It’s a spectacle that highlights their decade-long failure to grasp Trump or MAGA.
• Looking at this from a purely financial aspect it makes perfect sense to me. No offense to Canadians, your government has been propped up by America for some time and I personally would rather share the wealth as one adding the freedoms and liberty we enjoy than continue to provide the current establishment any opportunity to control you.
• Inter-country trade is not a subsidy nor is it “propping up”. The US is lower down on the international freedoms list than Canada is. “Share the wealth”? You mean steal our resources.
• I remember 6 years ago when Trump proclaimed the USMCA trade agreement as the greatest, most beautiful trace agreement ever ….. 6 years later, that same agreement that he signed and crowed about is …. Cheating. Trump has a lot of shockingly ignorant followers.
• It’s BS. Yes, we do most of our trade with the US because of shared values and geography. That’s doesn’t mean we’re “propped up”, we are resource-rich and we have the most educated work in the world. We can sell to someone else, There are already talks of joining the EU. – Hermani Costa
