Detroit is frozen solid. Water main break, this time. They’ll blame it on climate change, but it’s really the rotting infrastructure managed by boobs, bureaucrats, and bandits. We’ll call it a natural disaster, and the Feds (you) will send us more money. Mark it. Look at the map: Michigan got more disaster relief from FEMA than California or the Carolinas over the last decade. But we don’t have hurricanes or wildfires up here. We call it “once in a millennium flooding” … we say it almost every year as the sewers back up and our basements fill with sewage, or a 100-year-old dam bursts, or Flint is served up poisoned water. All man-made. Meanwhile, Detroit’s people pay some of the highest water rates in the country despite being surrounded by the Great Lakes. What do they get with for that? Misery. Homelessness. I worry for my people. 6 degrees Fahrenheit. 4 feet of ice. Thanks to our emergency responders and industrial plumbers. Some of the best in the world working in brutal conditions. But something’s gotta be done with the politicians and bureaucrats. Accidents occasionally happen, and infrastructure sometimes fails. But in Detroit, you can set your watch to it.. If they haven’t already stolen it.
- Maybe Detroit needs someone as a mayor who isn’t a democrat. But they just keep voting them in.
- So much for Detroit’s big “comeback”. I remember massive flooding on the Ruther highway in Detroit about 10 years ago after thunderstorms. The emergency pumps didn’t turn on because thieves stole the copper wiring for money.
- Spot on again sir!!! Drive around the city and into the surrounding cities and tell me why there is such a difference in the overall aesthetics of neighborhoods?? Parks with grass 2-4 feet tall, trash spewn around, vacant houses and lots not torn down, junk and non-working vehicles with 3 feet of grass surrounding them?? Weren’t the casinos supposed to provide dollars for the city’s operating budget, where are those dollars?? You hear about Detroit making a comeback and rebuilding but that has nothing to do with its government or politicians that’s been all about guys like Gilbert, Penske, Ilitch etc because without their money the city would be gone already. Can’t even fathom what kind of cesspool Michiganders would come to see if the state and cities did a “DOGE” style audit of every level of government and politician!!!
- Detroit is a liberal city that has been receiving billions in federal aid over the decades. Where does all the monies get diverted to? Certainly it hasnt gone to infrastructure or taking care of the homeless. Does it have ties to USAID NGOs?
