- DOJ closed the institutions. Through the courts. First with Florida State Hospital then through class action with Partlow. They control the purse strings through Medicaid. DOJ says they are protecting rights but actually they are saving money and ridding the society of the unwanted. Clients saw the institutions as a sanctuary. They would try to get in when the weather started getting cold. they had no place to go. Clients would tear things apart when they heard they would be placed “in the community”. They were afraid of having no where to go, be on the streets, be taken advantage of, and ending up in jail. Lose their job, no money, no address, no checks, where did all these homeless people come from? I don’t know, probably climate change Trump or somethiing. It’s not rocket science.
