Nikki Haley, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, has dismissed rumors that she would be part of a third-party presidential ticket with the group No Labels. This speculation arose especially after Haley faced a significant setback in her bid for the presidency, losing the South Carolina GOP primary to former President Donald Trump. This loss marked her fifth consecutive defeat in the primaries, significantly dampening her campaign’s momentum.

Following this loss, a key financial backer of Haley’s campaign, the Koch-supported Americans for Prosperity Action, decided to temporarily stop funding her campaign. This decision was revealed in a memo on Sunday, further highlighting the challenges Haley’s campaign is facing.

Despite these setbacks, Joe Cunningham, who is the national political director for No Labels, mentioned that the group was still considering Haley as a potential candidate for an independent run in the 2024 presidential election. No Labels had been looking for suitable candidates, and with notable figures like Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia, Senator Mitt Romney from Utah, and Larry Hogan, the former Governor of Maryland, all deciding not to pursue a presidential run with No Labels, Haley’s name came up as a possible contender.

However, even if Haley were to change her mind and join forces with No Labels, such an independent campaign would encounter significant legal challenges. These obstacles could greatly hinder any realistic chance of making it to the White House through a third-party ticket.
