Meyers had asked him about his plans given the current unpredictable times. Biden responded by highlighting his achievements, mentioning that the U.S. has a strong economy, lower inflation, and a significant number of new jobs. He also joked about former President Trump’s age while addressing concerns about his own age and memory.
The interview covered various topics, including the “Dark Brandon” meme, which portrays Biden with red laser eyes, suggesting a more vigorous image. Biden, known for his aviator sunglasses, played along but expressed his dislike for the meme.
Meyers also teased Biden about a possible endorsement from Taylor Swift, to which Biden responded humorously, confirming Swift’s support in 2020. The discussion about Biden’s age came up, especially since he’s the oldest sitting president. Biden pointed out that Trump, his potential rival, is also in his 70s but joked about Trump’s memory. Biden emphasized that it’s the age of one’s ideas that matters, criticizing Trump’s desire to reverse significant progress on various issues.
After the show, Biden briefly spoke to reporters at an ice cream parlor, discussing the situation in Gaza and the possibility of a ceasefire to facilitate the release of hostages held by Hamas. He expressed hope for a resolution by the end of the weekend, based on updates from his national security advisor.
This light-hearted interview, mixed with serious discussions, shows Biden’s attempt to connect with voters and address concerns while maintaining his sense of humor. Unfortunately for him, we know the interview was staged, rehearsed and he was even pumped up on whatever, as Trump says, in order to be able to speak at all.
