• If Russian assets are confiscated by the EU and the US, Russia will confiscate the assets of EU and US companies or states. It would simply be an exchange without financial loss for Russia, but it would destroy confidence in the West. In this scenario, American and European companies would suffer a loss of $300 billion, since the confiscated Russian assets would go to Ukraine, but Russia would suffer this loss in retaliation from Western companies (or states). In the end, it’s always the taxpayer who pays, in case it needs to be compensated or bailed out. Peskov: “Russia already has a list of assets that can be seized from foreigners in response to their actions. … Such acts carry very serious consequences. At one time, when the Europeans and Americans imposed unprecedented sanctions against us, they did not even think about the boomerang effect.
