Many Russian leaders have been through this before. They lean on their nukes, but realize they really can’t use them. The only thing it serves is to make them go mad in a bunker. Putin is just the latest failed Russian leader realizing this.
US defense secretary says he warned Russia not to use nukes. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said in an interview with CNN that he had privately conveyed to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu not to “go down this path and conduct this type of irresponsible behavior.”
Geo-political theater? Increased surveillance, a photo posted of truck movements to the region, reminders of the Poseidon missile, and unveiled threats of nuclear retaliation have renewed 2018 concerns over Kaliningrad.
