Joe Biden as leader of western democracies is an ‘insult to the free world’

Sky News host Alan Jones says allowing US President Joe Biden near a press conference is “elder abuse” and the media almost universally not calling out this “embarrassment” is a reflection on them. The remarks come following the president confusing Syria and Libya in a press conference at the G7 summit. “Why anyone would listen to Biden, I have no idea. Why anyone would let him near a press conference, I have no idea,” Mr Jones said. “This is elder abuse. “Why the media almost universally refuse to say this is an embarrassment, reflects not only on Biden, but on the media. “I’m sorry, this bloke is leading the free world, it’s an insult to the free world. “And the democrats in America are a disgrace to turn this bloke up as the leader of the western democracies.” Mr Jones also spoke about the G7 Summit, the leaders’ approach to net-zero emissions and the phasing out of coal-fired power. He said while the G7 leaders have committed to stop funding coal-fired power stations, the “growing nations” in Australia’s part of the world have “recognised” them as the “road to prosperity”. “The growing nations in our part of the world, India, China, Bangladesh and Vietnam, have recognised that the road to prosperity is cheap, dependable electricity and they are building coal-fired power stations,” Mr Jones said. “Biden is talking about cutting emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 – and these G7 leaders have committed to stop funding coal-fired power stations. “Now Scott Morrison was a guest. Did he commit to this? “If we start going down this road with banks and finance outfits not funding coal-fired power, we are opening the door for China.”
